What’s THAT, Mrs. Brenton?
Well, let’s open it up and see.
When children first see the parachute, they are intrigued and excited. It is one piece of equipment that everyone must use together in a cooperative and non-competitive manner. We play a variety of games in which students learn to work with each other. The parachute helps us to increase our upper body fitness and play games that involve using our listening skills and by following patterns.
Other cooperative games in this unit get us working together in partners and small groups to accomplish tasks. A lot of our conversation centers around fair play, sportsmanship, being a team player and “filling each other’s buckets!”
Also during this unit, we will experiment with striking towards targets, and review our tossing and catching with a variety of items.
